Why do you teach dog psychology and not dog training?

We love dog training, but we are passionate about dog psychology. This is because we value a well behaved dog over a well trained dog. We understand that good behavior doesn’t depend on how fast your dog can sit for a cookie. Most of the dogs we work with are well trained and many have had trainers in the past. Still, their owners struggle with pulling on the leash, destructive behaviors, over excitement, and psychological problems due to lack of fulfillment and frustration. Through understanding the psychology behind how the dog brain works we can fulfill a dog’s physical, mental, and emotional needs resulting in a well behaved family pet.

What types of breeds do you work with?

We work with dogs of all shapes and sizes. We believe that energy is everything and do not define a dog based on their physical characteristics, age, or temperament.

What tools & techniques do you use?

We use a variety of tools depending on your dog’s specific needs and your specific goals. Some of our favorite tools include slip leashes, backpacks, roller blades, food, treats, toys, simple sounds and our physical affection. We also utilize our own dogs to help overcome psychological obstacles and set a good example.

The techniques we use are very natural and simple. We primarily rely on our energy and body language in combination with movement, sound and spatial pressure to communicate clearly with a dog.

Although we use treats, we don’t practice command-based training.

Do you provide day care or overnight services?

Where are you located?

We are proudly located in Central New Jersey. If you happen to live outside of our travel range you are always welcome to meet us at a local park. We also offer video consultations for our clients around the world.

Is your company insured?

Yes. New Jersey Dog Pack is a fully insured and registered LLC.
